If you have updated to the V4.2E firmware on your console you may have found that some of your games no longer work. If this is the case then you'll need to either re-burn your titles in pal format or install the homebrew channel on your console. As the only reason to have a backup game is to backup games you own chances are that this update will have no affect on your discs at all and you can keep gaming as normal.
